one hundred

Before I go off to bed I just wanted to let everyone know that we reached 100 wishes tonight!!
Thank you for sharing your wishes with me and I hope that they all come true.

if you would like to leave a  wish the post to comment on can be found here

everything we know is stardust

One of my favourite movies ever is 'Before Sunrise' by Richard Linklater.
I remember being taken to see it whilst spending the summer in Brooklyn, right around the time the sequel was coming out, so I would have been about sixteen.
It's simple and heartbreaking and great.
Ten years after the original was made, the sequel 'Before Sunset' came out. I urge you to go see both of these movies right away! Maybe leave a week between watching the first one and the second one out of respect for all those people who had to wait ten years to find out what happened between Jesse and Celine!

Below is a poem that a street poet writes for the two main characters. He tells them to give him a word and their choice is 'milkshake'.

Daydream delusion, limousine eyelash
Oh baby with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
Sweet-cakes and milkshakes
I'm a delusion angel
I'm a fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don't want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we're going
 Lodged in life
 Like branches in a river
 Flowing downstream
 Caught in the current
 I carry you
You'll carry me
 That's how it could be
 Don't you know me?
Don't you know me by now?

roses are red

I have an obsession with vintage Valentine cards. They're just so perfectly weird and cute.
And I love a good pun.

lovely

It's been really lovely to read all of your wishes so far. Some are funny, some are heartbreaking. I'm sure those of you that have left a wish have also enjoyed reading what others have wished for. Keep up the good work guys!

Unrelated photo of Momo.

a little jaunt to London

these are some of the things which caught my eye:

a ceiling of lightbulbs!

silhouettes on Primrose Hill

candy coloured houses

and then I saw 'everything' - well, not really, it was more just a lot of great old Victorian era stuff. They had a great collection of strange dolls, taxidermy, old 'freak-show' posters and some of those fortune telling machines like in 'Big'! Unfortunately there was a strict no photography rule and I was heartbroken!

We saw this in the window of a shop that seemed to only stock things that were really cool and probably really expensive.

This guy was in there too. Look how excited he is!

I love the tiles in the Camden tube station.

Feet, waiting for the tube.

I was then taken to a really great cafe/bar which used to be a Vespa servicing station, then they decided to get a coffee machine to serve their waiting customers and it evolved into this really cool place with tons of old Vespa paraphernalia.

Lovely lights in the Vespa bar. I really love when people who know a city well take you to these hidden gems.

Unfortunately I didn't take many more photos, for two reasons : one being that I was sure I would drop my camera/phone and two being that I am slightly paranoid about waving my phone around all the time!

calling all wishers!

Everyone makes wishes.
We wish upon stars, we wish on our birthday cakes and even sometimes just because we're having a bad day.
I need all of your help to make my final major project authentic and meaningful.
What I need for this to happen are your wishes.
I am working with origami cranes, and using a slip casting method. Each wish I receive will be written on a piece of paper, folded into a crane and turned into a porcelain version.
An ancient Japanese legend promises that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish by a crane.

I understand if you prefer to be anonymous, so please comment anonymously and leave as many wishes as you like.

And you never know, your wish just might come true!
Thank you so much for you contributions.

oh, grey january

it's one of those grey days here, where you feel like you're in a giant tupperware. i really can live without these gloomy british january days. it's funny how much it affects my moods...and sinuses!!
i would much rather be horse riding on sunny plains somewhere.

here are a few photos from the past week.

i went to a chocolate cafe with some girls from my class. the chocolate was OK but what I really loved was this piece of furniture!

we had peanut butter at home but no jam, and what's the point of peanut butter unless you can have pb&j? bonus: the label is beautifully vintage inspired.

preemptive easter chocolate.

this was taken shortly after the whole structure was dropped on the floor and we lost a lot of good cranes in the process. i have to admit, i did cry over it for a little bit. and then a few days later i broke a few more. heartbreaking.

rounded off the week with a shirley temple made by my bartender boyfriend.

ruby velvet cake

I saw this video here and had to share it. So pretty!
I'm planning on making some red velvet cupcakes for Valentine's day and now I so want them to be glittery inside. I wonder if that is actually possible?
Doesn't this remind you of the Ruby Slippers?? Dreamy!

a little getaway to amsterdam where we happened upon this amazing store!
I have the name of the store written down somewhere so I'll try to find that in case any of you are planning a trip there!

I wish this store was my house!
