where we're going, we don't need roads!

The first Back the the Future film came out two years before I was born, in 1985 but even so if is one of my all time favourite childhood movies. I still watch these movies, probably every year and probably all three in a row. Johnny is probably even more in love with these movies than I am and he showed me the coolest thing the other day...

Remember the shoes Marty wears in Back to the Future Part II when he travels in time to 2015? The awesomely futuristic Nike MAGS? (can you believe 2015 is only 4 years away?! where's my Hoverboard already?)

Well they've made them...for REAL!! Even though I have no chance of owning a pair I can certainly appreciate how cool they are. I am always amazed when things make you realise how far in the future we really are! That might sound sort of silly, but in any old film with a supposed futuristic time setting, the idea of the future was always sort of laughable (like the in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey) but when things actually come into existence that were once only fantastical dreams in movies twenty years ago, you have to agree it's pretty awesome.

Nike has made 1,500 pairs of these guys. They are going to be auctioned off on EBay at nikemag.ebay.com to raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation to help fight Parkinson's disease. Not only that, but the Google co-founder Sergey Brin have agreed to match all donations up to $50 million! So if you have the means, totally get these shoes! Or if not, just admire them like me and go watch Back to the Future (any of them will do but part II is definitely the best).
